Elec­tions for new party leader due on Novem­ber 12

Elec­tions to pick a leader for Greece’s new cen­ter­left party will take place on Novem­ber 12, it was an­nounced yes­ter­day. A runoff vote, if nec­es­sary, will be held a week later on Novem­ber 19. The pur­pose of the bal­lot is to elect a fig­ure who will unite Greece’s cen­ter-left par­ties, in­clud­ing Demo­cratic Align­ment (for­merly PASOK) and To Po­tami. Ten can­di­dates, in­clud­ing PASOK leader Fofi Gen­ni­mata, To Po­tami leader Stavros Theodor­akis and Athens Mayor Gior­gos Kami­nis are vy­ing for the lead­er­ship.
