Bloody shootout.

Two po­lice of­fi­cers were in­jured in a shootout with a 37-year-old man in the town of Arta, western Greece, on Mon­day night. Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, the in­ci­dent oc­curred af­ter the 37-year-old opened fire with a ri­fle, for un­known rea­sons, on a car with a cou­ple and their child on board. The driver and his fam­ily man­aged to es­cape un­harmed and no­ti­fied po­lice who tracked him down an hour later in Aghios Dim­i­tirios in the re­gion of Peta. How­ever, the sus­pect started shoot­ing at the two of­fi­cers as he tried to elude ar­rest. He was even­tu­ally im­mo­bi­lized af­ter sus­tain­ing se­ri­ous gun­shot wounds and was hos­pi­tal­ized. One of the of­fi­cers was shot in the leg and the other re­ceived a bul­let in the stom­ach area.
