Father and son missing after Moruca boat collision

A father and his son are missing and feared drowned after the boat they were travelling in collided with another in the Moruca River, North West District between Friday evening and yesterday morning.

Commander of ‘F’ Division Ravindradat Budhram last evening confirmed the incident. However, up to press time he had not received any word on the father and son being found.

He also could provide no details surrounding the accident, though Stabroek News understands that a small engine boat left Moruca and was heading to Charity when tragedy struck.

At the time of the accident, one of the boats was transporting three persons while the other had five persons.

Residents of the community have since formed search parties for the two missing individuals and investigations are ongoing.
