Government Training College
This year marks the ninetieth anniversary of the founding of the Cyril Potter College of Education, which was earlier known as the Government Training College (GTC).
The photo above was taken outside the GTC building, which at that time was located where NCERD is now, on Battery Road, Kingston. The occasion was the biennial graduation exercises of forty trained teachers, and the year was circa 1945. Then Principal, Robert Cyril Gladstone Potter, after whom the present college is named, can be seen sitting sixth from left.
