GUYOIL raises fuel prices

Cit­ing re­cent hur­ri­cane ac­tiv­ity, the sta­te­owned Guyana Oil Com­pany yes­ter­day an­nounced that fuel prices will be go­ing up with ef­fect from to­day.

Gaso­line will rise by $14 per litre, kerosene by $10, ULSD Ga­soil by $15 and Ga­soil (LSD) by $6.

In a state­ment, GUYOIL Mar­ket­ing and Sales Man­ager, Eric Whaul said that a sig­nif­i­cant rise in ac­qui­si­tion costs at source has made the in­creases nec­es­sary. He said that the re­cent hur­ri­cane ac­tiv­ity had ex­ac­er­bated the sit­u­a­tion, trig­ger­ing a spike in mar­ket prices. He said that GUYOIL had main­tained sta­ble fuel prices since Jan­uary 1, 2017 de­spite fluc­tu­a­tions.

Higher fu­els prices feeds into all sec­tors.
