Swag Entertainment crowned PNCR 60th anniversary Futsal champs
Linden’s Swag Entertainment was crowned the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) 60th Anniversary Futsal Champions after edging Bent Street 2-1 Sunday at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground, Linden.
Following a scoreless opening half which was witnessed by a large crowd, Swag Entertainment broke the deadlock in the 12th minute, as Shane Luckie scored.
The lanky Luckie uncorked a powerful left-foot volley from just outside the centre of the penalty area which settled into the top right side of the net.
Luckie made his presence felt once more in the 16th minute doubling his team’s lead with an equally efficient strike.
Racing down the left side, Luckie crashed a flat left foot strike into the centre of the net.
However, Bent Street pulled one back in the 18th minute to set-up a tense finish with John Waldron finding the back of the net with a stab from the right side into the roof of the goal.
It was a goal that stunned the partisan crowd at the venue as Waldron evaded the challenge of a defender before rifling his effort past the custodian.
Nevertheless, staunch defending from the Swag Entertainment players ensured that Bent Street was unable to create the equaliser.
