PPP again calls for more help to hurricane victims

Weekend Mirror - - FRONT PAGE -

Once

again, in a matter of mere weeks, we have the misfortune of extending our sympathies and commiserations to the Government and peoples’ of the Caribbean nations which have been devastated by yet another Hurricane “Maria”, which has ravaged the island of Dominica and is en route to Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Bahamas. From all indica- tions, the destruction and dislocation have been massive. We continue to hope that our brothers and sisters in the affected areas show the resilience which we know they are capable of and have the strength to survive this latest disaster.

As we did in relation to Hurricane “Irma”, we reiterate our call upon the Government of Guyana to immediate- ly initiate steps to provide assistance to our Caribbean brothers and sisters and to assist with the evacuation of Guyanese living on the affected islands who are desirous of being evacuated.

Our Party wishes to assure our brothers and sisters affected by this monster hurricane that we stand with them in this time of their tragedy.
