Jaguars blaz­ing the trail at Re­gional Cham­pi­onships

Guyana Jaguars last Mon­day hum­bled the Trinidad & Tobago Red Force by an in­ning and 217 runs in their fourth-round match at the Brian Lara sta­dium in Port of Spain.

Tak­ing first strike the Jaguars scored a mas­sive 484 runs for eight wick­ets de­clared. Skip­per Leon John­son hit a mag­nif­i­cent 163 and he was fully sup­ported by the in-form Vishaul Singh, who also scored a solid cen­tury.

The Jaguars then bun­dled out the Red Force for a pal­try 120 runs in their first in­nings. Bat­ting a sec­ond time, the Red Force was again dis­missed for only 147 runs. The star-stud­ded Trinida­dian bat­ting line up failed mis­er­ably against the Guyanese spin­ners, with Veerasammy Per­maul cap­tur­ing five wick­ets in the Red Force’s sec­ond in­nings, as he took nine wick­ets for 97 runs in the match.

The Jaguars, af­ter the fourth-round matches, led the points ta­ble with 64.8 points. In sec­ond po­si­tion is the Lee­ward’s Hur­ri­canes with 44.6 points. Bar­ba­dos Pride jumped to third po­si­tion with 42.4 points, while the T&T
