Considered the second most important city in the department of Atlantida, after La Ceiba, Tela is a city full of adventure and magic. It was founded in 1524 by Cristobal de Olid and declared as a municipality in 1876. The city is located in the bay of the same name and is framed by Jeannette Kawas Park, where you can find the Love Tunnel and the Hidden Port or the Blue Lagoon and Punta Izopo.

With an exponential growth thanks to its charming setting that attracts thousands of people every year, Tela has become one of the most representative beaches in Honduras. With a variety of hotels, restaurants, shops and parks, Tela is the ideal place to relax, be amazed and venture out. Whether you want to enjoy the beach in all its splendor or venture into one of the national parks, such as Jeannette Kawas Park, Jardin Botanico Lancetilla or The

Texiguat Wildlife Refuge, in this spectacular city you can enjoy everything. If you want to continue the fun in Tela you can do some parasailing, diving, snorkeling, observe different species of birds or venture into fishing.

The city has a small airfield that can receive aircraft up to 80 passengers. The track has a length of 1,600 meters and a width of 30 meters. Cusuco National Park is a beautiful natural space rich in biodiversity. Very close to the city, the park is located in the foothills of the Sierra del Merendón. To date, 270 species of birds, 93 species of reptiles and amphibians, 35 species of bats, and a large number of mammalian species have been found. It should definitely be an option on your list.
