ONE FOR THE BOOKS
Following a global tour in London, Shanghai, Geneva and Hong Kong, the Maharajas & Mughal Magnificence auction at Christie’s New York achieved a total of more than US$109 million.
The marathon 12-hour auction resulted in the highest total for any auction of Indian art and Mughal objects, and the second-highest for a private jewellery collection. The top lot was this Belle Époque Devant-de-corsage by Cartier
(1912), which went to a private collector for an astonishing US$10.6 million.
