Not to be con­fused with won­tons, these boiled dumplings are served with­out soup and are a sta­ple dur­ing Lu­nar New Year and winter sol­stice cel­e­bra­tions. En­cased in thin white flour-based wrap­pers, these bun­dles of joy are tra­di­tion­ally filled with a mix­ture of finely chopped meat and veg­eta­bles, with re­gional and per­sonal vari­a­tions. Dip in vine­gar or chilli oil for added umami.
