Apple Orchard Road
The first store in Southeast Asia opens in Singapore
Apple Orchard Road opened to thousands of customers, some even queued overnight to be the first and have the best chance to explore Apple’s first store in Southeast Asia. Braving the heat and humidity as early as the night before, customers were greeted by Apple’s Angela Ahrendts, the company’s Senior Vice President of Retail and the store’s 237 employees when doors opened. With a unique 25-foot canopy and consisting of two levels, the sprawling new Apple Store also runs on 100 per cent clean energy through the use of rooftop solar panels, and the store’s 120-foot glass facade blurs the barrier between inside and out, while 16 interior trees continue the city’s lush greenery theme throughout the space. On the ground floor or street level, one can experience and buy the latest iphones, ipads, Macbooks, imacs and accessories such as phone cases. Twin curved Castagna stone staircases, the architectural highlights of Apple Orchard Road, lead shoppers into the second floor to a large creative space named The Forum, a space where Apple will conduct 60 free hands-on sessions such as iphone photography and ipad illustrations. Apple Orchard Road is located at 270 Orchard Rd, Singapore 238857.
