Porsche Golf Cup en­joys record num­ber of par­tic­i­pants

In­ter­est in the game of golf is grow­ing among Porsche cus­tomers with more than 12,000 am­a­teur golfers com­pet­ing in over 220 pre­lim­i­nary tour­na­ments around the world in the 2016 Porsche Golf Cup, a record num­ber. The top 98 play­ers from 20 dif­fer­ent coun­tries went head to head from 8th to 11th May in the Porsche Golf Cup World Fi­nal on the Span­ish is­land of Ma­jorca in the Mediter­ranean and Team Great Bri­tain emerged vic­to­ri­ous in the Na­tions Cup.

The British team fin­ished ahead of their coun­ter­parts from Aus­tria and France af­ter two rounds in ex­cel­lent con­di­tions at the Son Gual and Al­canada golf cour­ses. The five mem­bers of the vic­to­ri­ous British team each re­ceived a place among the start­ing field for the Pro-am tour­na­ment at this year’s Porsche Euro­pean Open (27th to 30th July, Green Ea­gle Golf Cour­ses, Ham­burg).

The win­ner of the ladies gross com­pe­ti­tion was Mi­nako Mit­sugi from Ja­pan. In the men’s sin­gles, vic­tory in the gross com­pe­ti­tion went to Brazil’s Re­nato Song. Un­for­tu­nately, none of the par­tic­i­pants man­aged to drive away in this year’s Hole-in-one Prize, a Porsche 911 Car­rera GTS Cabri­o­let.
