Creat­ing breath­tak­ing works of glass in col­lab­o­ra­tion with world-renowned de­sign­ers

In re­cent years, the pro­gres­sive Czech­based man­u­fac­turer of glass art­works has be­come a mag­net for in­ter­na­tional de­sign­ers and ar­chi­tects at­tracted by their glass­mak­ing ca­pa­bil­i­ties. Lasvit’s phi­los­o­phy of com­bin­ing tra­di­tional glass­mak­ing tech­niques with cut­ting-edge ideas and in­spi­ra­tions has en­abled it to foster part­ner­ships with like-minded cre­ative in­di­vid­u­als and com­pa­nies in the in­dus­try to cre­ate high qual­ity ar­ti­sanal light­ing, as shown in its lat­est col­lab­o­ra­tions. Grow­ing Vases is a light­ing in­stal­la­tion cre­ated by Nendo in col­lab­o­ra­tion with Lasvit to con­vey the quixotic ap­peal of glass that is seem­ingly incomplete but pro­vides a breath of fresh air and opens up new pos­si­bil­i­ties. It has a whim­si­cal feel that al­ludes to a glass for­est filled with ab­stract flow­ers and branches. The play­ful na­ture of Grow­ing Vases is seen where the metal pipes used to blow glass into the vases are in­ten­tion­ally left at­tached to the glass, de­pict­ing the flow­ers and branches. How­ever, the vases and flow­ers are in­verted so that it seems as if the vases are bloom­ing from the flow­ers in­stead of the other way round.
