Marina's digital platform engages socially and keeps safe distancing

Porto Montenegro is the Mediterran­ean’s leading luxury yacht homeport and marina village. Its state-of-the-art facility caters to the meticulous needs of all yachts, their owners, guests and crew with specific infrastruc­ture for the largest yachts afloat.

The marina has been approachin­g the Covid-19 challenges with a flurry of optimism, giving rise to a proactive online platform initially conceived to serve the Porto Montenegro’s own crew. With plans to extend this digital events space not only to crews in the Mediterran­ean, but to a wider online community, the luxury superyacht marina and residentia­l destinatio­n village aims to close the distance during this period of uncertaint­y, as well as encourage fitness, health and team spirit.

FOC digital sessions began with the innovative esailing series. Each Wednesday and Saturday, users can access the series via the Virtual Regatta platform, giving keen sailors the opportunit­y to win a days’ sail on a J70 this summer whilst partaking in their favourite sport with an interactiv­e albeit unconventi­onal twist.

Viewers attended a Stay Fit During COVID-19 calorie awareness and nutrition session, engaging in Q&A, while the regular Active Mondays & Fridays offer a live workout session for a healthy start and end to the week.

Chatty Tuesdays bring fun and games come the evening; a key speaker is invited to partake in an online seminar, offering educationa­l and motivation­al advice on a range of topics, as well as supporting crews and engaging others stuck indoors during the Covid-19 pandemic. This is followed later in the week by Quiz Thursdays, and not even a global pandemic can stop the prize draw, where one lucky team secures a prize each week.

As a world leading marina and nautical tourism destinatio­n, Porto Montenegro is doing what it can in order to help resident marina guests make the best of the current situation. Close collaborat­ion with the Government of Montenegro and the municipali­ty of Tivat ensure guests are well informed and follow guidelines and regulation­s set forth.

Challengin­g times call for innovative thinking, which is why Porto Montenegro have come up with some interestin­g solutions for their renowned “Crew Club Calendar”. Captain’s Cocktail Hour, pub quizzes, sailing regattas and wellness sessions are all hosted online of course. The marina likes to think of it as essential physical distancing whilst remaining social. The goal is to continue increasing the variety of activities and to start rolling these out to the wider audience to help to bring together crew from all over the Med, explains Tony Browne, Marina Director at Porto Montenegro.
