ONCE IN A LIFE­TIME Ja­panese bam­boo pieces, dat­ing from the late 19th cen­tury to the present, in­clud­ing works cre­ated by six artists des­ig­nated as Liv­ing Na­tional Treau­res in Ja­pan, are show­ing at New York's Met­ro­pol­i­tan Mu­seum of Art as part of The Abbey Col­lec­tion. Honma Hideaki's Flow­ing Pat­tern (2014), in Ja­panese tim­ber bam­boo, dwarf bam­boo , and rat­tan, is one of many cov­etable pieces.
