Nackiyé

YOU’LL BE SORRY IF YOU DON’T GET YOURSELF A PIECE OF THIS ISTANBUL-BASED BRAND’S FIRST COLLECTION. HERE’S WHY

Prestige Hong Kong - - AGENDA | STYLE -

There’s been a trend over the past few years in which a slate of delicious, independent resort-wear brands have come to the table. They’ve offered us bikinis, kaftans, dresses – the entire gamut of elegant, gauzy pieces that usually recall blue skies, a light breeze and the rush of ocean waves. You’d think that we would all have had enough, but to the contrary, the brands keep coming and we keep loving each one. Recently, Nackiyé, a brand that presented its first collection, titled The Dodecanese, at Paris Fashion Week, caught our eye with its louche kaftans – some hooded, some off-the-shoulder in a pile of slippery smooth satin or cotton. The founders are sisters Basak and Defne Kocabiyikoglu, who are Turkish and who used their greatgrandmother’s name for their brand. Inspired by the relaxed elegance and subtle seduction that comes from a cross between exquisite fabric and a Mediterranean-oriental design, the pair looked to their own summers in sleepy fishing towns that would later transform into opulent resorts where socialites and celebrities collide. The collection is designed for the modern-day globetrotter to pack for sunny escapes from impending winter, but the variety on offer makes it easy to pull off a jumpsuit kaftan at your local summer city rooftop party.
