THE SEAFOOD ROOM, CAUSEWAY BAY
Up high on the 26th floor of Tower 535, we celebrated the new edition of the guide with a full house of industry friends— we managed to welcome more than 480 of them before closing the metaphorical gates, as we simply couldn’t fit any more though the doors. With Hong Kong’s sparkling skyline stretched out before us, we announced the new crop of Top 20 restaurants and the year’s special award recipients—including our first ever Local Champion winner, May Chow, who had taped a heartfelt video to accept her award. The Seafood Room may have closed in mid-2017, but the fond memories remain.
Nicolas Boutin and Hideaki Sato Agustin Balbi and Shane Osborn
David Ting and Pearl Shek
For our fourth awards video, we chose four chefs from different backgrounds to tell us how Hong Kong inspired them—and had each create a dish to encapsulate the city.
