BRICKHOUSE

-

This Maximal Concepts eatery is the true definition of a ‘hidden gem’ when it comes to authentic Mexican street fare in the city, tucked away in an unassuming alleyway in Lang Kwai Fong that gives it an grungy, hole-in-thewall feel. The menu features nicely executed classics such as Mexican street corn and hamachi with jalapeño vinaigrette that boast zesty seasoning and fresh ingredients. The latter stands out among a selection of three raw dishes—the fish is impressively fresh, with the vinaigrette adding just the perfect amount of spice and character. The dos mole pollo is delightfully tender complemented by a rich dressing, while the chunky guacamole is almost overshadowed by the nachos de molcajete‘s perfectly grilled and juicy marinated shrimp and ribeye skewers. We recommend the taco platter that provides a selection of five tacos including wagyu beef cheek, tiger prawn, fish, pork belly and marinated chicken—ideal for sharing, but be prepared to order seconds. The hip hop beats playing in the background can get slightly overwhelming, so if you’re looking to enjoy an intimate conversation, bring your cocktails (the thirstquenching Margarita and Diabla are crowd favourites) to the outdoor area where petroleum cans are repurposed as tables.
