Own­ing a prop­erty in NCR can re­strict you ap­ply­ing for DDA flat

The DDA plans to bar those who own a house in NCR ar­eas such as Gur­gaon, Noida, Ghazi­abad and Farid­abad from ap­ply­ing for a flat un­der its hous­ing scheme 2014.

At present, only those who own prop­erty in Delhi are barred from ap­ply­ing in a hous­ing scheme. DDA, how­ever, wants to in­clude house own­ers in the nearby satel­lite towns un­der the reg­u­la­tion too.

While any In­dian res­i­dent can ap­ply for a flat in a DDA hous­ing scheme, those who al­ready own a flat or any prop­erty in the Cap­i­tal are not al­lowed to do so.

The DDA, how­ever, feels that bar­ring Delhi res­i­dents who own prop­erty and al­low­ing those liv­ing just across the bor­der is a di­chotomy that needs to be re­moved.

The agency has al­ready fi­nalised the pro­posal and it has been sent to the Delhi Lt Gov- er­nor Na­jeeb Jung, who is also the chair­man of DDA, for his ap­proval.

The hous­ing scheme is ex­pected to be launched by the end of July.

“Apart from house own­ers in Delhi, we now also want to ex­clude those in NCR ar­eas such as Gur­gaon and Noida,” DDA vice chair­man Balvin­der Ku­mar said.

“Only those who don’t have any prop­erty at all in Delhi-NCR should be al­lowed to ap­ply in the hous­ing scheme,” he said.

While DDA plans to bar prop­erty own­ers from the four near­est satel­lite towns of Delhi — Gur­gaon, Noida, Ghazi­abad and Farid­abad - the NCR en­com­passes 14 dis­tricts apart from Delhi, in­clud­ing Al­war in Ra­jasthan, Pa­ni­pat in Haryana and Bu­land­shahr in Ut­tar Pradesh
