The designer incorporated traditional techniques such as punching and inlay into the contemporary piece of jewellery. His inspiration? The CCTV headquarters building in Beijing that has a loop with an open centre. The nuevo ring is shaped with platinum and African blackwood. “To avoid being predictable, I punched the inner sleeve of the ring, so even if the ring is not being worn there will always be details to discover. The form is pretty symmetrical in shape so an inlay has been placed off centre to be less conventional. African blackwood has been chosen for this piece due to its dark colour as it is a good contrast, that lets the platinum and its textures pop out,” said the designer.
