1. The min­istry is ad­vo­cat­ing adop­tion of new tech­nolo­gies in road con­struc­tion, and use of new ma­te­rial which will save the cost and in­crease the qual­ity and life of the roads. 2. Tech­nolo­gies com­mer­cialised world over have been al­lowed to be adopted in the coun­try. 3. Ma­te­ri­als like iron slag, soil sta­bi­lizer have been al­lowed to widely use in road con­struc­tion. 4. The min­istry has con­sti­tuted a com­mit­tee to study and adopt global stan­dards of roads and road con­struc­tions. 5. The min­istry has di­rected to in­cor­po­rate con­struc­tion of bar­rages (band­ha­ras), while de­sign­ing and build­ing new bridges wher­ever pos­si­ble. 6. The bridge di­vi­sions have been ad­vised to en­sure to main­tain nav­i­ga­tion­al­ity of river/wa­ter bod­ies while de­sign­ing the bridges. Util­ity cor­ri­dors are be­ing de­vel­oped along the high­ways. 8. Th­ese cor­ri­dors shall carry gas, iron slurry, wa­ter, op­ti­cal fi­bre ca­ble for Dig­i­tal In­dia and can also be used for power trans­mis­sion. Th­ese shall help cross util­i­sa­tion of in­fra­struc­ture and ad­di­tional rev­enue for na­tional high­ways.
