Global warming is real and it is impacting nearly every aspect of humanity and life on Earth. Understanding the consequences of global warming is central in meeting the challenge and opportunities of the 21st century. Climate change is already making the planet hotter, and in the coming decades much greater temperature increases are expected. Along with the increasing temperatures, humanity is already facing extreme weather events such as widespread coastal flooding, storm-surges, heat waves, drought, mass migration, famine, disease, species extinction and sea levels rising. The changes in weather patterns also affect both energy demand and supply.
