From Chairman’s Desk /
Our great nation recently celebrated its 70th Independence Day. On 15th August 1947 our first Prime Minister, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, had unfurled the National Flag and keeping with this tradition, our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi addressed the nation from Lal Qila and paid tributes to all the great freedom fighters, who fought for the independence of India. We, at the Airports Authority of India, joined the countrywide celebrations with great enthusiasm.
Come September, our festival season starts. Starting with Ganesh Chaturthi, this eleven days festival is celebrated all over the country. This will be followed by Onam, which is a traditional ten days harvest festival. The spectacular Aranmula Boat Race forms part of the Onam celebrations. September will also mark the beginning of Ram Lila, a dramatic folk re-enactment of the life of Lord Rama, throughout the country. The month also sees the unveiling of cultural extravaganza during the Ladakh festival in Leh & Ladakh region.
I take this opportunity to wish all our readers a great festival season and hope that they will be able to visit various parts of the country and enjoy our rich and diverse cultural heritage. And yes, do enjoy our hospitality while travelling through the AAI airports, as we care and are there for you.
