AAI con­ducts all In­dia In­ter In­sti­tu­tional Ta­ble Tennis at Jaipur

On a re­quest by the Ta­ble Tennis Fed­er­a­tion of In­dia (TTFI) with which AAI Sports Con­trol Board (AAISCB) is af­fil­i­ated, AAI con­ducted the pres­ti­gious 46th All In­dia In­ter In­sti­tu­tional Ta­ble Tennis Tour­na­ment at Jaipur. 18 or­ga­ni­za­tions par­tic­i­pated in the Men’s Team Event, 11 or­ga­ni­za­tions in the Women’s Team Event, 4 or­ga­ni­za­tions in Youth Boys and Youth Girls Team Event. Apart from the team events Men’s Sin­gles/dou­bles, Women’s Sin­gles/dou­bles and Mixed Dou­bles were also con­ducted in which play­ers from the var­i­ous states also par­tic­i­pated. AAI which has in its ranks some of the most promis­ing young play­ers of the coun­try par­tic­i­pated in all the events. This tour­na­ment is the 2nd most im­por­tant Na­tional Ta­ble Tennis Tour­na­ment in the coun­try af­ter the Se­nior Na­tional Ta­ble Tennis Cham­pi­onship. All lead­ing play­ers of the coun­try par­tic­i­pated in the event in­clud­ing those who par­tic­i­pated on be­half of In­dia in the RIO OLYMPICS namely Sharath Ka­mal, Soumya­jit Ghosh, Mouma Das and Manika Ba­tra.

AAI Men’s and Women’s Team fin­ished run­ner up in the team events los­ing to Petroleum Sports Promotion BOARD(PSPB), a com­pos­ite team of Pub­lic Sec­tor Oil Com­pa­nies. The Youth Girls Team won the Youth girls team event de­feat­ing Petroleum Sports Promotion Board while the Youth Boys Team fin­ished run­ner up to the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board. In view of be­ing fi­nal­ist, the Men and Women team qual­i­fied for the Se­nior Na­tional Ta­ble Tennis cham­pi­onship to be held in Gur­gaon while the Youth Girls Team in view of be­ing the win­ner qual­i­fied for the Ju­nior & Youth Na­tion­als to be held in Su­rat.

In the open events, AAI’S Ronit Bhan­jha and Ay­hike Mukher­jee fin­ished run­ner up to G Sathian and Ankita Das of PSPB in the Mixed Dou­bles Event. The men’s sin­gles was won by G Sathian of PSPB, Women’s Sin­gles by Suthirtha Mukher­jee of West Ben­gal, Men’s Dou­bles by Sud­han­shu Grover & Ab­hishek Ya­dav of PSPB and Women’s Dou­bles by Mouma Das & K Shamini of PSPB.

The tour­na­ment was in­au­gu­rated by Shri Ram­cha­ran Bo­hara, Hon’ble Mem­ber of Par­lia­ment(lok Sabha) in the pres­ence of Shri Rakesh Kalra, Re­gional Ex­ec­u­tive Di­rec­tor (North­ern Re­gion), Air­ports Author­ity of In­dia, Shri BK Tailang, Air­port Di­rec­tor, Jaipur and Shri Dhan­raj Chowd­hury, Sec­re­tary Gen­eral, TTFI on 24th July,2016 while Shri Anuj Agar­wal, Mem­ber (HR) & Pres­i­dent, AAISCB was the Chief Guest at the Clos­ing Cer­e­mony in which Shri PC Chaturvedi, IAS and Pres­i­dent, TTFI , Re­gional Ex­ec­u­tive Di­rec­tor, AAI, North­ern Re­gion and Air­port Di­rec­tor, Jaipur Air­port were also present.
