UDAAN: AAI Cel­e­brat­ing New Heights

The or­ga­ni­za­tion has been in­stru­men­tal in bring­ing state -of -the -art tech­nol­ogy and safety sys­tems at Air­ports and Air nav­i­ga­tion. This year, AAI has crossed many mile­stones and we know each day had its own spice and fla­vor which made it a year it was 2016-17.

Our coun­try is on thresh­old of an en­dear­ing to­mor­row and AAI will have a vi­tal role to ful­fill. To cel­e­brate all the hard work and achieve­ments of the year passed by, AAI cel­e­brates its an­nual day on 1st April ev­ery year. An­nual Day is an es­sen­tial oc­ca­sion for any or­ga­ni­za­tion to bring peo­ple to­gether from dif­fer­ent depart­ments to cel­e­brate the joy of work­ing, fel­low­ship, and col­lec­tive suc­cess un­der one canopy. It is also a day to ac­knowl­edge and honor the past year’s achieve­ments and per­for­mances. This day gives an op­por­tu­nity to re­joice the unity and in­tegrity of the or­ga­ni­za­tion. This year Air­ports Author­ity of In­dia cel­e­brated its 22nd An­nual Day at Siri Fort Au­di­to­rium, New Delhi in full splen­dour. Shri P. Ashok Ga­jap­athi Raju, Hon’ble Union Min­is­ter of Civil Avi­a­tion was the Chief Guest and Shri Jayant Sinha, Hon’ble Union Min­is­ter of State for Civil Avi­a­tion was the Guest of Hon­our at the An­nual Day Func­tion.

The vi­brant evening of music and cel­e­bra­tion be­gan with a Divine Dance per­for­mance on Omkaar theme by ASMA Dance Group to in­voke the bless­ings of the Almighty. The for­mal in­au­gu­ra­tion was done by Hon`ble Min­is­ter of Civil Avi­a­tion with the light­ing of the sa­cred lamp. A cor­po­rate plan of Air­ports author­ity of In­dia was launched by Shri P. Ashok Ga­jap­athi Raju, HMCA in the pres­ence of MOS Shri Jayant Sinha, Dr. Gu­ruprasad Mo­ha­p­a­tra, Chair­man, AAI and other dig­ni­taries. The cor­po­rate plan de­vel­oped for the pe­riod 2017- 26 is in tune with National Civil Avi­a­tion Pol­icy (NCAP, 2016) and presents the vi­sion and mis­sion state­ments that AAI en­vis­ages for it­self along with the tar­gets and strate­gies to meet them dur­ing the next 10 years.

Af­ter the launch of cor­po­rate plan, awards were pre­sented to achiev­ers from dif­fer­ent teams and air­ports for their com­mend­able per­for­mance and achieve­ments in their re­spec­tive fields by HMCA Shri P. Ashok Ga­jap­athi Raju. Awards were given on the ba­sis of ratings and sur­veys car­ried out by iden­ti­fied agen­cies on dif­fer­ent pa­ram­e­ters. The Air­port Ser­vice Qual­ity Award (ASQ) was given to Jaipur and Srinagar Air­port rated as Num­ber 1 and Num­ber 2 in the cat­e­gory of 2-5 mil­lion pas­sen­ger re­spec­tively by Air­ports Coun­cil In­ter­na­tional (ACI), a global non-profit or­ga­ni­za­tion of Air­port Op­er­a­tors on Air­port Ser­vice Qual­ity (ASQ). Chandi­garh and Raipur Air­ports were ranked first and sec­ond re­spec­tively, on the ba­sis of Cus­tomer Sat­is­fac­tion In­dex (CSI) Sur­vey ratings. Swach­hta Awards’ in Cat­e­gory A, B and C went to Lucknow, Bhubaneswar and Udaipur Air­ports cor­re­spond­ingly.

Apart from this, Project Team of Vi­jay­wada Air­port along with RHQ/CHQ team re­ceived the Engi­neer­ing award for com­plet­ing the work of Vi­jayawada Air­port Ter­mi­nal Build­ing well within the time frame. The Min­is­ter also awarded the Re­gional Ex­ec­u­tive Di­rec­tor (RED), South­ern Re­gion and Air­port Di­rec­tor (APD), Chen­nai Air­port for ef­fi­cient and ex­em­plary han­dling of op­er­a­tions dur­ing Var­dah Cy­clone. Fur­ther­more, rep­re­sen­ta­tives of var­i­ous unions and wel­fare as­so­ci­a­tions of the or­ga­ni­za­tion were fe­lic­i­tated by Shri. Anuj Ag­gar­wal, Mem­ber (HR).

Mov­ing on, dur­ing his of­fi­cial ad­dress, Shri P. Ashok Ga­jap­athi Raju, HMCA com­pli­mented the AAI fam­ily on ful­fill­ing its role as­signed to­wards Na­tion build­ing by way of pro­vid­ing safe, se­cure and af­ford­able fly­ing. He added that “In­dia is the fastest grow­ing avi­a­tion sec­tor in the world. If that mo­men­tum is kept up, we could be­come the first in Avi­a­tion Mar­ket in near fu­ture”.

Shri Jayant Sinha, Hon’ble Union Min­is­ter of State for Civil Avi­a­tion as­serted that AAI has been in­stru­men­tal in im­ple­men­ta­tion of var­i­ous Govern­ment Schemes like Make in In­dia, NCAP and RCS-UDAN. The Hon’ble Min­is­ter also ex­pressed his hap­pi­ness on the re­sponse re­ceived on the re­cently launched Airsewa, an ini­tia­tive to of­fer peo­ple a con­ve­nient and has­sle-free air travel ex­pe­ri­ence which is op­er­ated through an in­ter­ac­tive web por­tal as well as mo­bile app. He fur­ther added “Our Hon`ble PM has a vi­sion of a New In­dia and the jew­els of New In­dia are our Air­ports.” Shri R. N. Choubey, Sec­re­tary (Civil Avi­a­tion) con­veyed his best wishes through a mes­sage which was read out dur­ing the event. Sec­re­tary (CA) ap­plauded the achieve­ments of AAI in im­ple­men­ta­tion of Re­gional Con­nec­tiv­ity Scheme, Airsewa ini­tia­tives and launch of AAI Cargo Lo­gis­tics and Al­lied Ser­vices Ltd. (AAICLAS).

Dr. Gu­ruprasad Mo­ha­p­a­tra, Chair­man, AAI ex­pressed that the An­nual Day is an oc­ca­sion which apart from pro­vid­ing us an op­por­tu­nity to show­case our achieve­ments and the ben­e­fits ac­crued to the coun­try as a whole in the year gone by, also pro­vides a plat­form to meet and in­ter­act with re­newed vigour to work to­wards build­ing ‘New In­dia’. He ex­pressed his sat­is­fac­tion on AAI achiev­ing great heights of suc­cess glob­ally. Dr Mo­hap­tra in a proud mo­ment ex­pressed how an in­terim div­i­dend of Rs 560 crores paid to the Govern­ment and also reach­ing the Rs 10,000 crores rev­enue mark had thor­oughly reaf­firmed his con­fi­dence in be­com­ing one of the World lead­ers in Avi­a­tion in times to come.

Af­ter the of­fi­cial pro­gram, the stage was pre­pared for Live Per­for­mance by renowned Singer – Per­former Shaan who ser­e­naded the au­di­ence with his mes­mer­iz­ing songs and eu­pho­nious voice mark­ing an in­cred­i­ble end to the cer­e­mony.
