The organization has been instrumental in bringing state -of -the -art technology and safety systems at Airports and Air navigation. This year, AAI has crossed many milestones and we know each day had its own spice and flavor which made it a year it was 2016-17.
Our country is on threshold of an endearing tomorrow and AAI will have a vital role to fulfill. To celebrate all the hard work and achievements of the year passed by, AAI celebrates its annual day on 1st April every year. Annual Day is an essential occasion for any organization to bring people together from different departments to celebrate the joy of working, fellowship, and collective success under one canopy. It is also a day to acknowledge and honor the past year’s achievements and performances. This day gives an opportunity to rejoice the unity and integrity of the organization. This year Airports Authority of India celebrated its 22nd Annual Day at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi in full splendour. Shri P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Hon’ble Union Minister of Civil Aviation was the Chief Guest and Shri Jayant Sinha, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation was the Guest of Honour at the Annual Day Function.
The vibrant evening of music and celebration began with a Divine Dance performance on Omkaar theme by ASMA Dance Group to invoke the blessings of the Almighty. The formal inauguration was done by Hon`ble Minister of Civil Aviation with the lighting of the sacred lamp. A corporate plan of Airports authority of India was launched by Shri P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, HMCA in the presence of MOS Shri Jayant Sinha, Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra, Chairman, AAI and other dignitaries. The corporate plan developed for the period 2017- 26 is in tune with National Civil Aviation Policy (NCAP, 2016) and presents the vision and mission statements that AAI envisages for itself along with the targets and strategies to meet them during the next 10 years.
After the launch of corporate plan, awards were presented to achievers from different teams and airports for their commendable performance and achievements in their respective fields by HMCA Shri P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju. Awards were given on the basis of ratings and surveys carried out by identified agencies on different parameters. The Airport Service Quality Award (ASQ) was given to Jaipur and Srinagar Airport rated as Number 1 and Number 2 in the category of 2-5 million passenger respectively by Airports Council International (ACI), a global non-profit organization of Airport Operators on Airport Service Quality (ASQ). Chandigarh and Raipur Airports were ranked first and second respectively, on the basis of Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) Survey ratings. Swachhta Awards’ in Category A, B and C went to Lucknow, Bhubaneswar and Udaipur Airports correspondingly.
Apart from this, Project Team of Vijaywada Airport along with RHQ/CHQ team received the Engineering award for completing the work of Vijayawada Airport Terminal Building well within the time frame. The Minister also awarded the Regional Executive Director (RED), Southern Region and Airport Director (APD), Chennai Airport for efficient and exemplary handling of operations during Vardah Cyclone. Furthermore, representatives of various unions and welfare associations of the organization were felicitated by Shri. Anuj Aggarwal, Member (HR).
Moving on, during his official address, Shri P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, HMCA complimented the AAI family on fulfilling its role assigned towards Nation building by way of providing safe, secure and affordable flying. He added that “India is the fastest growing aviation sector in the world. If that momentum is kept up, we could become the first in Aviation Market in near future”.
Shri Jayant Sinha, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation asserted that AAI has been instrumental in implementation of various Government Schemes like Make in India, NCAP and RCS-UDAN. The Hon’ble Minister also expressed his happiness on the response received on the recently launched Airsewa, an initiative to offer people a convenient and hassle-free air travel experience which is operated through an interactive web portal as well as mobile app. He further added “Our Hon`ble PM has a vision of a New India and the jewels of New India are our Airports.” Shri R. N. Choubey, Secretary (Civil Aviation) conveyed his best wishes through a message which was read out during the event. Secretary (CA) applauded the achievements of AAI in implementation of Regional Connectivity Scheme, Airsewa initiatives and launch of AAI Cargo Logistics and Allied Services Ltd. (AAICLAS).
Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra, Chairman, AAI expressed that the Annual Day is an occasion which apart from providing us an opportunity to showcase our achievements and the benefits accrued to the country as a whole in the year gone by, also provides a platform to meet and interact with renewed vigour to work towards building ‘New India’. He expressed his satisfaction on AAI achieving great heights of success globally. Dr Mohaptra in a proud moment expressed how an interim dividend of Rs 560 crores paid to the Government and also reaching the Rs 10,000 crores revenue mark had thoroughly reaffirmed his confidence in becoming one of the World leaders in Aviation in times to come.
After the official program, the stage was prepared for Live Performance by renowned Singer – Performer Shaan who serenaded the audience with his mesmerizing songs and euphonious voice marking an incredible end to the ceremony.
