Cow protection

Alive - - Letters -

This is in response to the articles regarding holy cow (June).

As India is a democratic country, Constitution has given all people the right to eat what he likes. But with the banning of killing cows, people are forced even to change their food habits.

This is the second stunning blow of the Modi Government to the people of India since he came to power. Through surgical strike life has come to a standstill in all sectors of the Indian economy. Government should understand one naked truth that lakhs of poor Indians are making both ends meet through the animal husbandry sector.

The activities of cow vigilantes have affected the rural economy. Due to the goondaism of a few, lakhs of people associated with meet trade were left in the lurch. India exports buffalo meet to more than seventy countries across the world and earning good amounts as foreign exchange.

In the name of cow protection selfstyled cow vigilantes are taking the law in their hands spreading mayhem and panic among the poor farmers, traders and others. It is shocking to point out that the actions of law enforcing authorities are highly reprehensible and favourable to goondas. For the last three years, hooligans and bad elements have so far lynched and brutally assaulted so many innocent Indians in the name of holy cow.

Central authorities who are supposed to apply the brakes are sitting on the fence and enjoying the music.

Some goonda organisations are functioning in various parts of India in the name of protecting the cow. Self appointed cow protectors are launching brutal attacks against Dalits and minority communities over rumours that they sold, bought or killed cows for beef. These groups even attacked police stations in the name of beef.

If anybody kills or attack human beings on the pretext of protecting cows he has no right to live in India. The Central and state governments should use an iron hand to wipe out the menace from the society.
