If we talk about paid news, then as per Press Council’s report, it is any news or analysis appearing in any media platform for a price in cash or any consideration. On one hand fake news is misinformation that misleads people, whereas on the other hand, paid news is kind of unfair news/ad that we come across through various platforms of media.

It was reported by The Election Commission, that more than 1,400 cases of paid news were seen between year 2009 and 2013. As we all know that paid news is something that is seen in India from years, whereas fake news is the new trend setter in the country.

Some groups have criticised paid news including Bloomberg, who claimed that, paid news was rotting

India's democracy. Mostly, paid news can be seen at the time of elections, as it has been used by political parties some or the other times in India across the states.
