Tirupur jobworkers’ synonymous growth with the enthusiastic industry
Being in sync with the exporters, thousands of jobworkers in Tirupur are witnessing excellent growth and many of them are even adding new technologies, enhancing their capacities. These jobworkers are covering the entire value chain right from knitting of yarn to finishing of garmenting. The commendable trait to be noted about them is that they are concerned about the environment, going for certifications too and focusing on latest trends of value additions as well. After the announcement of 5 per cent rate under GST, they are enthusiastic and geared up for business.
Rajdeep Clothing Company, an expert jobworker in digital and screen printing, plans to build a new unit and add digital and roll format printers to meet the requirements of its increasing customers. Deepak Siddharth, CEO of the company updated AOI, “Business is going good as we have witnessed decent growth in recent years. This motivates us to move into a new 15,000 square feet area and add new digital printers and printers for roll format. So, overall, we will be investing more than Rs. 2 crore.” The company is also in the process to get GOTS certification for this new unit. With Tirupur being a tees manufacturing hub, Rajdeep Clothing even sees prospects in chest printing in future. But at present, its focus is on roll format printing to support its existing client base. An increase in capacity and improved infrastructure also inspires the company to focus on domestic clients although 95 per cent of its current customers are garment exporters. “With our new initiatives, we will be able to reduce our costing which will help us to tap domestic clients also. To support them, we will be having a design studio as these clients rarely come with their designs,” reasons Deepak. Using Kornit digital printer and GOTS certified inks, the company has high production capacity which is more than 10,000 pieces per day and it can print on 100 per cent cotton, lycra, viscose, polyester and wool.
These Tirupur jobworkers are setting milestones for others to follow by adopting the best of practices and technology. Macrofast Digital Textile Printing recently received GOTS
certification and claims to be the only GOTS approved digital printing jobworker in Tirupur. Rajesh Babu KRA (ex-NIFTian), Director of the company elucidates the reason behind this initiative, “We want to support the environment as well as exporters, and so we decided to be GOTS certified. It was not very difficult for us as we were already following all norms.” He further adds that this certification helped him to get new clients who are specially working with Europe. It does have expertise to offer different kinds of textures in printing like leather, denim and wood texture etc. Printing 6,000 pieces and 3,000 metres (roll-to-roll) per day, the company offers printing on all kinds of fabrics (except polyester). “People are largely technology-oriented these days which contributes in systematic and faster production. This is a positive sign for us also,” states Rajesh with a broader thought.
Continuous new offerings, focus on latest designs are also the key strengths of some of the jobworkers of Tirupur as they claim that these designs help the exporters to make their products better. Image Printings, one in this list, recently came up with effective embossing prints with foil, glitter etc. KS Senthil Kumar, MD, Image Printings mentioned, “I have printed more than 1 lakh pieces of same kinds in recent few months. Looking at the design, this is cost-effective also as we charge maximum 0.80 paisa per square inch with heavy value addition.” Doing annual turnover of Rs. 5 crore, the company is expecting at least 20 per cent growth this year.
Sonal Process is one of the best jobworkers in Tirupur offering large variety as well as quality in its services.
