Key Giveaways for Spring/Summer 2018
While most of the trends are more or less a new translation of their old avatars, there are still a few new entries into the markets. The biggest new insert that is coming directly from runways and has a lot of influencers backing in its name is the double-breasted blazer. The hitherto ’80 banker suit style will be the leader for women’s outerwear and take a new shape with a more fluid and oversized silhouette as well as details like embroidery and statement buttoning. Another incoming that the market will see is in bottomwear, where last season’s culottes which were being sold in every fabric and colour, are now paving the road for paper bag trousers. The style that will enter retail in an obviously more wearable version will retain its comfort and focus on the waistline, which has been the new goal for fashion this season. The last and perhaps the most obvious entrant is the two-piece dress, which is nothing but retail’s pocket-friendly rendition of separates. This style has maximum commercial value for manufacturers because it will essentially use the same material and trims to create 2 pieces and it also has more value for consumers because they get the freedom to wear this dress in two parts and style it according to their own fancy.
