Polka dots are being used as a dominant design element since the 1940s and have come a long way hence, evolving through the ages. The sartorial specks are recently being spotted mostly in monochrome referencing a retro mood yet over layers of transparencies to reveal a new design dimension. Elie Saab and Zimmerman filled the runway with polka dots that featured over sheer frills – small evenly placed dots dawned over A-line dresses and frilled skirts.
Emporio Armani presented coats and fur jackets that were blasted with medium-sized polkas in black and white, while Zac Posen used holographic polka dots over elegant and chic silhouettes. Antonio Marras went for a schoolgirl inspired print over wrap dresses.
