Polka dots are be­ing used as a dom­i­nant de­sign el­e­ment since the 1940s and have come a long way hence, evolv­ing through the ages. The sar­to­rial specks are re­cently be­ing spotted mostly in mono­chrome ref­er­enc­ing a retro mood yet over lay­ers of trans­paren­cies to re­veal a new de­sign di­men­sion. Elie Saab and Zim­mer­man filled the run­way with polka dots that fea­tured over sheer frills – small evenly placed dots dawned over A-line dresses and frilled skirts.

Em­po­rio Ar­mani pre­sented coats and fur jack­ets that were blasted with medium-sized polkas in black and white, while Zac Posen used holo­graphic polka dots over el­e­gant and chic sil­hou­ettes. An­to­nio Mar­ras went for a school­girl in­spired print over wrap dresses.
