Long knitted coats like jackets, jacquard cardigans and long woollen dresses are must-haves this winter. Collarless coats are emerging as a new trend giving the wearer a clean look. According to Mehrra, “Patterned and printed wool are big this season. Capes and wraps are the in thing and multicoloured wool yarn is another hit trend.” The monochrome classic patterns are in trend as well and there is abundant choice in the women's woollen wear section in solid, plaid and texture patterns. “The scarf in jacquard pattern with cut work or appliqué work is trendy. In addition to the black and grey tone, natural shades, tones of reds and subdued pastels are already moving,” says Rashmi Ahluwalia, Founder, Stalkbuylove.com. A change in the season is also a perfect opportunity to smartly prepare one’s wardrobe with different pieces like woollen scarves and stoles that can be layered enchantingly. “The fine wool-silk combo is comfortable and looks great with coats and blazers. Scarves are great for the day-to-night look while light-weight sweaters are apt for the dressy and casual look. The easywearing, long cashmere cardigan is perfect for tossing over chic, layered ensembles,” opines Mehra. “In order to streamline the woollen wear industry in the country and to grab new opportunities, manufacturers are shifting focus from traditional ways and methods. This has led to the emergence of new trends like introduction of newer yarns, economical blends, innovative value additions and a shift towards the high-end, finer gauge,” adds Dutta.
