MR V M KULKARNI Chairman, CSR
Mr Kulkarni has been connected to the Apparel, Garments and the Fashion Industry since he completed BSc in Textile Sciences. After he graduated from IIM Ahmedabad, he worked for about 10 years, then he decided to venture out with something of his own. He successfully Launched and marketed numerous fashion brands in India. Since then, it has been a adventurous journey with pleasant results for Mr Kulkarni! From training potential candidates to make them job ready for the industry to understanding business arenas in both the offline and online sphere, Mr Kulkarni has a diverse vision to accomodate every segment of the industry and thereby assist brands in their growth.
MR RAJESH MASAND Member
Mr Masand stepped on the career path at the age of 17, on the side-lines of Education, and joined his family Business of Apparels. In 1993 he started a Partnership firm M/s Rushank Clothiers, which, today, Employs more than 300 Workers. Mr Masand is directly involved and with the functionalities of the workers and the day to day Activities of the Company. Consecutively, after giving shape to his Company, he also went on to give shape to the Brand ‘ Touch’, the same year. The Brand, today, is known all over India for their exclusive range of Shirts, fit for every occasion. He has been associated with CMAI since 2002 and presently holds the post of the Vice President and is also the Chairman of the New Project SubCommittee. He is also a Trustee of a Charitable Organisation in Mumbai involved in getting heart surgeries of poor and needy children done.
MR U M LAD Jt Chairman, CSR
Mr U M Lad, M.Com, ACA (Chartered Accountant) worked with The House of Tatas since 1980 in various Capacities. He was heading the Export Division of Rallis India Ltd. and then took over as Executive Vice President – Finance of Rallis India Ltd. In the Year 2000, Mr Lad joined Trent Ltd. as Vice President (Commercial) and was Responsible for the Sourcing & Technical Functions of both, Westside & Star Apparels. He was also a part of the Apex Management Team of Trent. Mr Lad is also connected with the Association for a long time and is now one of the Managing Committee Members of the Association.
MR RAMESH HINGORANI Member
Mr Hingorani started working at the age of 16 years. After trying diverse industries, he found his true calling when he worked for Liberty and Silkina Shirts, for which he was handling production and stores and production and marketing respectively. He started his own Business called Ding Dong Enterprises in 1980, manufacturing Trendy Shirts, Silk Shirts and Night Wear for Men under the Brand name ‘ GALAXY’. His interest in menswear led his company to diversify into Ethnic Wear in 1985. In the year 2010, Mr Hingorani started his own casual wear brand ‘ GALAXY’, which manufactures Trendy T-shirts. Having been around for almost four decades, Mr Hingorani is a Brand name in himself in the Menswear segment. He has held the Post of Vice President, Chairman, Membership Development Sub-Committee of the CMAI in the past and continues to be an active Member of the Managing Committee.
MR GANGJI V SHAH Member
Mr Shah is the Managing Director of Zapata Fashions Pvt Ltd., a Trouser Manufacturing Company which has been in Business for the last 34 Years and is known for the brand Zapata. The company manufactures formal and casual trousers with a fabric blended with fine fibres. Mr Shah has been associated with CMAI since 1994, contributing to the Growth of the Association ever since. During these Years, Mr Shah held the Post of Chairman, Membership Dev. Sub-Committee; Member, Fair SubCommittee, Jt. Hon. General Secretary & Hon. Treasurer of the Association. He has a deep knowledge of the Industry which helps him to serve the Association with insights and knowledge.
MR ASAD FAKIH Member
A Graduate from HR College, Mr Fakih has been in the Readymade Garment Industry since 1980 and his Specialities include Designing, Manufacturing, Wholesaling, Retailing and Exporting. He is the Managing Director of Naseem Creations, Manufacturing Ethnic Salwar Kurtas, Skirts, Blouses and Western Wear. He has been on the Advisory Board of NIFT (Delhi), a Special Invitee on the Central Academic Consultation Committee (Mumbai), Chairman, Advisory Committee, Maharashtra Estate Technical Education Board (METEB) Mumbai, on the Advisory Committee of SNDT (Juhu), Sophia College and BD Somani School of Fashion in Mumbai, and on the Managing Committee of KM Education Society School. Mr Fakih has been associated with CMAI since last 20 Years and is also on the Managing Committee of the Association. He had held the Position of Hon Jt Secretary, Chairman and Editor of Apparel Magazine Sub-Committee for more than 10 Years and was Chairman, Fair Sub Committee. He is still actively involved in the Activities of the Association.
MR ISHWAR KANWARJANI Member
As President, Sales and Marketing, at Dfrnt Clothing Company, Mr Kanwarjani oversees sales and handling channel partners in order to expand sales in newer territories. He has over 30 years of experience in the apparel industry and has steadfastly established his brand ‘ Zorro’ in the southern markets. He is also closely associated from inception with ‘ Equation’, another brand from the group. Mr Kanwarjani is the Managing Committee Member of the CMAI from the last five years and actively Participates in the Activities of the Association.
MR PARESH VORA, Member
In 1990, Mr Paresh Vora graduated from Shri Chinai College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce. During this time, he spent most of his time learning the basics of the trade. He established Utex in 1991, a boys’ bottom wear line, across 15 states in India. He completed a Diploma in Business Management from NMIMS. He has watched the Industry evolve through the 90s, learnt the process of buying & sourcing, spent time researching new products, and Perfected all Aspects of Trading. As one of the Founding Members of this Committee, he always emphasises the need and discipline for conducting Ethical Business practices.
MR PRAKASH PAREKH Member
Mr Parekh started his journey in the Textile Industry in 1993 and subsequently entered in the Garment industry in 2003. He successfully established Men’s Club Wear Shirt with the Brand Names HM & Herdsman. With a vast experience of 15 years, he has a Strong Market existence in over 14 States. In the year 2017, he launched a New Premium Club Wear Shirt Brand name ‘ Geneva’. He is currently a Member of the Managing Committee of the Association.
