ASSOCHAM organised its ' 9th Global CSR Summitcum-Responsible Organisation Excellence Awards 2016-17' on September 27,2017in New Delhi. The summit was inaugurated by the chief guest Mr. Arjun Ram Meghwal, Hon'ble MoS, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs & Ministry of Water Resources& Ganga Rejuvenation along with Mr. Sandeep Jajodia, President, Mr. D. S. Rawat, SecretaryGeneral, ASSOCHAM, MsPreeti Malhotra, Chairperson, ASSOCHAM National Council for Corporate Affairs & CSR.
The objective of the Summit was to discuss and deliberate upon how responsiblebusinesses, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) can innovatively contribute to the "New India" vision of the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi.
Welcome address was delivered by Mr. Sandeep Jajodia, President, ASSOCHAM & Chairman and Managing Director, Monnet Group. Theme address was delivered by MsPreeti Malhotra, Chairperson, ASSOCHAM National Council for Corporate Affairs & CSR and ED, Smart Global Group; followed by the key note address by Mr. Akhil Bansal, Deputy CEO, KPMG, India. Mr. Arjun Ram Meghwal, enlightened the participants by his inaugural address followed by concluding remarks and vote of thanks by Mr. VijaySachdeva,Co-chairman, ASSOCHAM National Council for Corporate Affairs & CSR and Founding Partner, Verita Management Advisors. The ASSOCHAMCSRcompendium 2016-17,was also released during the sidelines of the event.
The panel discussion on the theme "Responsible Business
: Building New India" was moderated by Mr. Siddharth Zarabi, Executive Editor, BTVI and panellists included Mr. Vijay Chadda, Chief ExecutiveOfficer, Bharti Foundation, Ms Jaishree Goyal, Head - CSR, Angelique International Limited, MsMalini Gupta, Program Director, RBS Foundation India & VicePresident Sustainability, Royal Bank of Scotland, Dr. Praveen Aggarwal, Co-Founder, Consocia Advisory, Ms. BishalakhiGhosh, Co-Founder and Director, GIV CENTRAL and Mr. Rajib Kumar Debnath, Independent Management Expert.
Later during the day, Mr. Arjun Ram Meghwal, conferred the ASSOCHAM 9th Responsible Organisation Excellence Awards 2016-17.
Under the category of Private Sector Companies Larsen & Toubro Limited was declared the winner and Piramal Enterprises Limited as runners' up. Under the category of Public Sector Companies, Bharat ElectronicsLimited was declared the winner and ONGC Limited as runners' up.
Also, in recognition of the commendable CSR Projects implemented by the companies, the certificate of appreciation were awarded to Capgemini Technology Services India Limited, Delhi International Airport LimitedGMR Varalakshmi Foundation, Hindustan Unilever Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Narmada Jhabua Grameen Bank, RelianceIndustries Limited, YES BANK and Narmada Jhabua Grameen Bank .
The summit was well attended by 120 participants including CSR heads from various corporates, NGO's and academia.
