Varroc is one of the leading suppliers of auto components to two-wheeler makers alongside passenger car segment. It is foraying into the commercial vehicle segment as well. It has been working to make vehicle parts lighter to improve the overall efficiency. Varroc reduces weight by shifting to other materials and by process improvisation.

“The problem with material change is that OEMs do not want us to change the material without any solid tests and reports as it could affect their quality. As the cost of changing material is expensive, the components also become expensive. OEMs do not want that unless there is significant value addition,” Ravi Damodaran, President, Strategy and Technology, Varroc Group, said. Also, the material change is done for non-performing parts or not so crucial parts like levers and others but not for the transmission system and engine as they have to withstand heat and high pressure.
