Gajra Gears steps into manufacturing of gears for 9-speed transmission
Gajra Gears, the largest producer of automotive transmission gears in India, has commenced manufacturing of gears for 9-speed transmission gearbox. The company is currently involved in the production of transmission gears, differential gears, engine gears, automatic transmission parts, gearbox assemblies, housings and castings and cutting tools. Spanning the industry for more than 5 decades, the company looks forward to focus its major chunk of business in replacement market. The company has been supplying 8-speed transmission gear box and now to be at par with the technology evolution, it has started producing 9-speed gear box transmission. “Every year we sketch our plans to maintain our prominence in the market. Our focus area now is to produce 9-speed transmission gearbox and the manufacturing lines are already busy in producing them. The testing phase is yet to wave. Once we succeed in this phase, mass production will commence. We plan now to focus on heavy duty vehicles. Technology is evolving day by day. The gearbox we manufacture should be robust to challenge the rough terrains in the country. We are working on the ratios and the geometry of 9-speed manual gearbox to make it fuel efficient. It is expected to hit the market very soon,” a company official said.
Grounded gears versus shaved gears
The company feels that the grounded gears will be the future for the gear assembly. Unlike shaved gears which undergo heat treatment as the final procedure, grounded gears will undergo grinding process post heat treatment which cuts the additional materials with a diamond cutter to give a shining finish. The gear manufacturer guarantees the upgradation of machine tools and resources based on the market requirements. The usage of latest machinery produces gears conforming to DIN standards of accuracy. The grounded gears endorse the OEM quality with the usage of En353 steel. This material gives the OEM finish to gears and the quality is one-up compared to the other gear assemblies available in the aftermarket. The grounded gears withstand pressing impacts more efficiently than the shaved gears.
“The major challenge we face in the replacement market is the cost as we adhere to the quality of OEM,” the company official said. The gear assembly comes at an affordable price to the customers but not at a competitive price. There are players who
