The Auto Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) participated for the first time in the Automechanika Birmingham 2017, claimed to be UK’s leading exhibition for the automotive aftermarket and supply chain. An ACMA contingent of 23 companies showcased their products and technologies at the event organised from June 6 to 8, 2017 at NEC, Birmingham.

Automechanika Birmingham hosted over 750 exhibitors who presented the latest products and technologies from the aftermarket and supply chain. The seminars along with the exhibition covered business dynamics, best practices and technical updates. Live demonstrations for the aftermarket were also a part of the exhibition.

Some of the leading Indian participants at Automechanika Birmingham 2017 included Jamna Auto Industries Ltd, Lucas TVS, Macas Automotive, NBC Bearings and Simco Auto Ltd. The companies showcased their capabilities in product categories including springs, motors, brake lining, bearings, auto electricals, engine parts and rubber parts. ACMA noted that it has been able to mobilise the group participation of its members with the support of the Ministry of Commerce & Industries, Government of India. Rattan Kapur, President, ACMA, said with about £71 billion turnover and £18.9 billion value added in 2016, the UK automotive industry has become one of the key drivers of its economy. He added that it accounts for 12% of the UK export of goods and invests £4 billion every year in automotive R&D. The current auto component trade between India and the UK was at $900 million.
