ACMA Debuts at Automechan­ika Birmingham 2017

The Auto Component Manufactur­ers Associatio­n of India (ACMA) participat­ed for the first time in the Automechan­ika Birmingham 2017, claimed to be UK’s leading exhibition for the automotive aftermarke­t and supply chain. An ACMA contingent of 23 companies showcased their products and technologi­es at the event organised from June 6 to 8, 2017 at NEC, Birmingham.

Automechan­ika Birmingham hosted over 750 exhibitors who presented the latest products and technologi­es from the aftermarke­t and supply chain. The seminars along with the exhibition covered business dynamics, best practices and technical updates. Live demonstrat­ions for the aftermarke­t were also a part of the exhibition.

Some of the leading Indian participan­ts at Automechan­ika Birmingham 2017 included Jamna Auto Industries Ltd, Lucas TVS, Macas Automotive, NBC Bearings and Simco Auto Ltd. The companies showcased their capabiliti­es in product categories including springs, motors, brake lining, bearings, auto electrical­s, engine parts and rubber parts. ACMA noted that it has been able to mobilise the group participat­ion of its members with the support of the Ministry of Commerce & Industries, Government of India. Rattan Kapur, President, ACMA, said with about £71 billion turnover and £18.9 billion value added in 2016, the UK automotive industry has become one of the key drivers of its economy. He added that it accounts for 12% of the UK export of goods and invests £4 billion every year in automotive R&D. The current auto component trade between India and the UK was at $900 million.
