Tata Motors showcases Prima LX 2525K
Showcasing its commitment to retain its high market share of over 50% in the tipper segment, Tata Motors showcased 6 products. Analysing the pain areas typical to tipper customers and looking at increased product usage in the construction segment, Tata Motors showcased PRIMA LX 2525 K 16 CuM box tipper with Ultimaax suspension. Developed in collaboration with its JV partner Hendrickson Inc., the Ultimaax suspension is a combination of rubber and metal that adjusts according to the laden or unladen weight of the vehicle.
Supported by rubber bushes in front and rear, Ultimaax eliminates the need for periodic lubrication as required by metal bushings in the conventional suspension, thus reducing road shocks and driver fatigue. A K Jindal, Head, Electric Vehicles & Defence Vehicles, Commercial Vehicle Engineering, Tata Motors, said “Due to low weight of the system, Ultimaax suspension system will offer higher payload of up to 250kgs over standard bogie suspension.”
Expecting a rampant shift in the tipper segment, Tata Motors also showcased a 37-tonne haulage tipper, and 49-tonne Signa tipper with 14 Cu.m. body. It boasts of two-side tippers which can be operated either one side or opposite direction at the same time. Tata Motors also displayed the upgraded versions of its Prima engines, taking base power of Prima to 250hp to 300hp.
