Volvo CE debuts EC200D
Celebrating 2 decades of its presence in India, Volvo CE took EXCON 2017 to conduct the world premiere of its 20- tonne excavator EC200D. The new excavator is powered by Volvo’s D5E engine that puts out 123 kW of power @2000 rpm. Configured with a 5.7 m boom, 2.9 m arm and 0.8 m3 bucket, EC200D churns out the maximum breakout force is 116 kN.
According to the company, with almost negligible market two decades back, the 20-tonne excavator market size has grown to almost 15,000 units in the country. Designed specifically to perform general construction duties, EC200D joins the company’s EC210D excavator which majorly serves heavy duty applications. Company sources claim that with the 20- tonne sector split into two segments, among heavy duty machinery and everyday robust equipment, EC 200D will be able to serve the needs of owner operators, contractors as well as large construction companies.
Dimitirov Krishnan, Vice president and head of Volvo CE India feels India’s push to expand connectivity and develop infrastructure are expected to remain in spotlight for some time moving forward. “We’re also expecting strong interest from rental companies. The specifications and design of the EC200D make it a perfect option for the rental industry.” he added.
