LAND ROVER has launched the new fifth-generation Discovery. Available at a starting price of Rs 71.38 lakh (ex-showroom), the Discovery gets the familiar Land Rover design features which we’ve been seeing in the recent wave of SUVs from the company. The Discovery focuses on optimising interior space for its passengers and gets a host of features. This includes the world’s first Intelligent Seat Fold system, Gesture Control to allow opening of the main tailgate with the wave of the foot, a dual-purpose powered Inner Tailgate to retain loose items when raised or offer comfortable seating when lowered. Another first for Land Rover is the Activity Key, a durable and waterproof wristband to lock and unlock to allow outdoor activities without carrying keys. The Discovery gets new technological features for greater convenience, like Park Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Condition Monitor, Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist and a surround camera system which provides as 360° exterior view. Being a Land Rover, it also features a plethora of technology to help in the rough stuff and these include Terrain Response 2, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, Gradient Release Control and a Permanent four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case. Powering the Discovery will be the option of a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 335bhp petrol engine and a 3.0-litre diesel with 255bhp.
