Mass-scale elec­tric mo­bil­ity in 30 years

THE SO­CI­ETY of In­dian Au­to­mo­bile Man­u­fac­tur­ers (SIAM) has pub­lished a whitepa­per that states it will take India till 2047 to achieve com­plete adop­tion of Elec­tric Ve­hi­cles (EVs). In the re­port, a roadmap has been pre­sented to the govern­ment so as to achieve com­plete elec­tric mo­bil­ity. The roadmap ad­vises the fol­low­ing goals set for the year 2030, such as 40 per cent of all new ve­hi­cles to be EVs, all new in­ter-city trans­port to be EVs and 60 per cent of all new ve­hi­cles to em­ploy hy­brid tech­nol­ogy. SIAM sees India be­com­ing a fully-elec­tric mo­bil­ity coun­try by 2047.
