BMW drifts into record books
THE NEW BMW M5 has been used to set a Guinness World Record, for the longest drift distance in eight hours. Obviously, the rear-wheel drive mode in the new M5 works as advertised. The new car was held sideways by Danish racing driver Johan Schwartz on a wet-surfaced skid pad for 374km to decimate the earlier record of 144km, set in 2014 in a Toyota GT86. An oldergen M5 was drifted alongside the new one, while the car was refuelled jet-fighter style.
