SETTING THE tone for luxury car manufactures in India, Lexus launched the fifth generation LS500h for Rs 1.77 crore for the Luxury Grade while other variants like the Ultra Luxury Grade and the Distinct Grade will be available at Rs 1. 82 crore and Rs 1.94 crore respectively. Taking inspiration from the company’s Formula One technology, the LS500h is powered by a 3.5L V6 petrol engine combined with two electric motors for a combined 354bhp. It is based on the ultra-rigid Global Architecture—Luxury (GA-L) platform, which is said to enhance precision handling. Being the only long wheelbase model in the portfolio, the LS500h sports a new multi-link air suspension system. The new LS is also equipped with the Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) that integrates and controls six different vehicle dynamic movements. And that’s not all. The interiors are inspired by origami hand pleats and Kiriko cut glass that take luxury to the next level. With a claimed legroom of 1,022mm, the sedan’s seating at the rear also has Shiatsu massage technology, heating functions and ottomans in the rear for added comfort.
