Kia breaks ground in Andhra Pradesh
KIA MOTORS, has laid the foundation for their India operations, with a framework installation ceremony in Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh. Kia is the second largest auto manufacturer in Korea, after Hyundai, who are incidentally their parent company. The 600 acre facility will be Kia’s first manufacturing plant in the country. Kia had announced a cumulative investment of over Rs 10,400 crore in India, with plans to scale it up further by 2021. These investments in India will create over 3,000 jobs. As for projected capacity, Kia says they expect to produce over 3 lakh cars annually. The first product will be a compact SUV/ crossover based on the Concept SP, first seen at the 2018 edition of the Auto Expo.
