Kia breaks ground in Andhra Pradesh

KIA MO­TORS, has laid the foun­da­tion for their In­dia op­er­a­tions, with a frame­work in­stal­la­tion cer­e­mony in Anant­pur district of Andhra Pradesh. Kia is the sec­ond largest auto man­u­fac­turer in Korea, after Hyundai, who are in­ci­den­tally their par­ent com­pany. The 600 acre fa­cil­ity will be Kia’s first man­u­fac­tur­ing plant in the coun­try. Kia had an­nounced a cu­mu­la­tive in­vest­ment of over Rs 10,400 crore in In­dia, with plans to scale it up fur­ther by 2021. These in­vest­ments in In­dia will cre­ate over 3,000 jobs. As for pro­jected ca­pac­ity, Kia says they ex­pect to pro­duce over 3 lakh cars an­nu­ally. The first prod­uct will be a com­pact SUV/ cross­over based on the Con­cept SP, first seen at the 2018 edi­tion of the Auto Expo.
