AMID THE coronavirus lockdown in the country, Hyundai India revealed prices for the 2020 Hyundai Verna that now complies with the new BS-VI emission norms. The introductory prices start from Rs 9.30 lakh (ex showroom, India) and ranges out at Rs 15.09 lakh (ex showroom, India). The Verna facelift is now available in three engine options, a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 1.0litre turbo petrol engine. The bookings have already begun for a token amount of Rs 25,000 across all Hyundai dealerships in India. The Verna facelift is based on the new ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design ethos, as it goes through a major cosmetic update that includes a heavily updated fascia featuring Hyundai’s new signature cascading chrome grille, front grille is flanked by a set of new LED headlamps with LED DRLs, front bumper is redesigned and now sits on a new pair of diamond cut alloy wheels along with new ORVMs, silver door handles and electric sunroof among other features. At the back, the sedan sports a completely redesigned rear with new bumper, and redesigned LED tail lamps that compliment the front section courtesy the black cladding under the chrome strip. Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) option and churns out 115bhp and 144Nm, while the 1.0-litre Turbo GDI petrol gets a 7-speed dual clutch transmission with paddle shifters. This engine is capable of developing 120bhp and 171Nm of peak torque, whereas the 1.5-litre diesel engine is available in 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic option, producing 115bhp and
250Nm.
