The State Bank of India is proposing to set up a transformation management office (TMO) at its global IT center in Belapur in Navi Mumbai. The bank is also seeking to create an enterprise architecture function. The bank wants the TMO to be operated in a BOT mode. The TMO will act as a continuous excellence engine for IT, ensuring that IT transforms itself as it meets ever increasing business demands. The TMO will manage and monitor the IT portfolio of projects, enhance synergy between various IT departments, provide governance for change management and provide framework for value realization from projects. The TMO is expected to work closely with business leadership and be the change agent. The constituents of the TMO will be experienced practitioners and experts with a balanced perspective of business and IT. The bank wants to have value realization via alignment with business objectives and tracking and measuring business benefits from projects, synergy and collaboration among various business and IT departments for delivering organic strategic initiatives, change management, capability building, managing interdependencies, risks, enterprise and technology architecture and providing governance as the key focus area of the TMO.
