NPCI hosts 8th Asian Pay­ment Card Fo­rum

The 8th edi­tion of Asian Pay­ment Card Fo­rum was hosted by NPCI on Septem­ber 21-22, 2017 in Mumbai. The event was or­gan­ised by APSCA un­der the theme ‘From Cash to Dig­i­tal’ Pay­ments. The fo­rum pro­vided unique op­por­tu­ni­ties for ex­perts to dis­cuss best prac­tices for driv­ing the con­sumer pay­ments land­scape to­wards fu­ture of dig­i­tal pay­ments. Es­teemed pan­el­lists and speak­ers also de­bated the com­bined con­tact­less ac­cep­tance op­por­tu­ni­ties for re­tail and trans­port pay­ments be­sides dis­cussing

pay­ments sce­nario around the world at present and the ones that are likely to de­velop in the fu­ture. Mr Dilip Asbe, Chief Op­er­at­ing Of­fi­cer, NPCI de­liv­ered the key­note ad­dress at the event which was fol­lowed by re­puted speak­ers from the Gov­ern­ment, In­dian and In­ter­na­tional Bankers, So­lu­tion Providers and Con­sul­tants. Sinha, Joint Sec­re­tary - OSD, Min­istry of Ur­ban De­vel­op­ment, and Mr Rakesh Shanker, Deputy Com­mis­sioner - Ahmed­abad Mu­nic­i­pal Cor­po­ra­tion on con­tact­less pay­ments in tran­sit do­main. NPCI took this op­por­tu­nity to show­case its con­tri­bu­tion in the Con­tact­less tech­nol­ogy for emerg­ing seg­ments in­clud­ing tran­sit, smart cities, smart cam­puses, park­ing, tolls and re­tail. This has also helped the par­tic­i­pants to gain in­sight from the in­dus­try ex­perts on the top­ics such as mo­bile pay­ments, al­ter­nate pay­ment sys­tems, con­sumer pay­ments,

cus­tomer ed­u­ca­tion and pay­ments sys­tem se­cu­rity. The fo­rum was one of the largest APSCA pay­ments events so far which wit­nessed about 300 del­e­gates from banks, pay­ment schemes, pay­ment ser­vices providers and trans­port tick­et­ing op­er­a­tors from 10 mar­kets in South Asia, Asia-Pa­cific and Eu­rope. About 50 per­cent of the fo­rum del­e­gates were end-users in the re­tail and trans­port pay­ments busi­ness.
