Thea­gara­jah is new MD & CEO, Cargills Bank

Ra­jen­dra Thea­gara­jah has as­sumed charge as MD and CEO at Sri

Lanka’s Cargills Bank. He suc­ceeds Prabhu Matha­van, who has com­pleted his term but will con­tinue as a mem­ber of the board and an ED over­see­ing a frame­work of sup­port ser­vices, in­clud­ing fi­nan­cial con­trol and re­port­ing func­tions. Thea­gara­jah has been with the bank as a non-ex­ec­u­tive joint deputy chair­man since De­cem­ber 2016. In his new role, he will be re­spon­si­ble for ex­e­cut­ing strat­egy and de­liv­er­ing the bank’s busi­ness plan, which in­cludes a road map for a list­ing at a fu­ture point in time. He had served Cargills Bank from its in­cep­tion hav­ing been its deputy CEO/CFO. He is a vet­eran banker with a wealth of ex­pe­ri­ence in the bank­ing and fi­nan­cial ser­vices sec­tor and counts over 34 years in bank­ing both lo­cally and in­ter­na­tion­ally. Prior to join­ing Cargills Bank, he func­tioned as CEO of Na­tional De­vel­op­ment Bank and as MD and CEO of Hat­ton Na­tional Bank.
