Ex-IAS officer is IRDAI chairman
Former Karnataka chief secretary and 1981-batch IAS officer Subhash Chandra Khuntia has been appointed chairman of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). He will have a tenure of 3 years. The position has been lying vacant for nearly 2 months after T.S. Vijayan has remitted office. Hailing from Jagatshingpur in Orissa, Khuntia joined the IAS in the Karnataka cadre and served in various government departments including as secretary at the department of school education & literacy, special secretary and financial advisor in the ministry of petroleum and natural gas and held positions in Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and Indian Oil Corporation. He became chief secretary of Karnataka in October 2016.
