KOFIA sets up India Desk in Seoul
The Bombay Stock Exchange Brokers Forum (BBF), with more than 800 members pan India and the Korea Financial Investment Association (KOFIA), hosted the 1st India-Korea Capital Market Cooperation Forum in Mumbai recently. The forum was supported by BSE, NSE, MCX, NCDEX, NSDL, CDSL and MSEI. Dr Vispi Rusi Bhathena, CEO, BBF, is of the view that the Korean delegation had shown deep interest in investing in Indian listed and unlisted securities, both equity and debt, in real estate/ infrastructure and in Indian startups as well as taking strategic stakes in/ joint venturing with Indian intermediaries including securities firms and asset management companies.
BBF and KOFIA have decided on broad areas of cooperation and jointly conduct training programs and strengthen the research base for the development of the securities markets in their respective countries. BBF and other Indian capital market professionals will attend Korean Capital Market Education Program (Seoul) in December 2018. In 2019, the 2nd India-Korea Capital Market Cooperation Forum is proposed to be held in Seoul. A working-level communication channel has been established where KOFIA has set up a specialized India Desk in Seoul and BBF has set up a specialized Korea Desk in Mumbai.
